Levanta Stories

Read below to hear stories of our interaction with members of our community and how God has been working through Levanta Ministries.

A New Roof

Our Community Assistance Program is designed to help families with different needs and employ people in our area to help meet those needs. We love helping people with these necessities while using it as an opportunity to share the Gospel with them. Recently, we received a request from a family near us that needed a new roof for their home.

After Levanta staff had met with the family and assessed the situation, we put a plan in place to help them. The family already had some raw materials that could be used for the project and Levanta bought what was remaining. We were able to hire three men from our local community that needed employment to work on the project. Before starting, two of our staff members, Jandry and Mundo, went to the site, served coffee and breakfast and then gave a Biblical devotional to the workers and the family. The men were able to finish the job in a couple of days and the family received the blessing of a new roof.

The family also requested that our staff conduct a weekly Bible study in their home for them and their neighbors which has already started. This is a great example of how Levanta is using the resources we have been given in order to bless others and point people towards Christ. Thanks for supporting us so that we can support our community!

Dominique and Casandra

Dominique, Casandra, and their children are a Haitian family that live in our community. Currently, they have no fixed income source, but Dominique seeks out work in the community in order to provide for his family.

We were introduced to them several months ago and wanted to help them as they strive to care for their family. Through our Community Assistance Program, we have been able to hire Dominique for various small construction projects in order to give him honest work in areas in which he is skilled. He is eager to work and has done a marvelous job on all of the assignments for which we have hired him. We continue to look for opportunities for Dominique and other men in our community in order to hire them to complete local projects. To the left is a photo of one of our staff members, Jandry along with Dominique while on a work site.

Levanta Ministries has a Trade Program where we employ people to make hand-made products that we can sell as a way to help support the ministry. We hired Casandra to train under our head seamstress, Lucia, so that she could improve her sewing skills while getting paid at the same time. Now, Casandra is sewing and creating items that we plan to sell that will allow us to continue providing work for her and others.

We also invited Dominique and Casandra to be part of one of our weekly Haitian Bible studies that are given in the native language of Haiti (Creole) and led by one of our staff members Jorge (“Mundo”). They and other Haitian families meet together each week and talk about the Bible and how they can follow Christ and apply God’s truth to their daily lives.

“What we can say is that we thank God first, and then thanks to Levanta Ministries because they help us with many things!  They are a great blessing to us!”. ~Dominique

We continue to foster our relationship with them and other Haitian families, offering assistance when needed and pointing them to Jesus as we do. We are so thankful to the Lord and our faithful supporters for allowing us to be able to minister to people like Dominique and Casandra.
